If this well-meaning sad sack is Davidson's best guess, thank God the man. Parents need to know that The King of Staten Island is a dramedy that's loosely based on star Pete Davidson's real life. Like the character he plays, he lost his firefighter father at a young age, a traumatic experience with lasting impact on his mental health. I just finished watching "The King of Staten Island" and I have a headache from holding my tears in (I didn't want my husband/teenagers to laugh at me). It was beautifully written and acted; it's like when you get pissed off at the end of a really good book because you. Now I feel kinda bad for living in New York and never having gone to Staten Island.
